Lodz (Litzmannstadt) 10 Pfennig Tokens Type 1 & 2

Tokens were also produced for use in the Ghetto. In 1942 two types of 10 pfennig magnesium tokens were made.

The first design was thought to resemble the German 10 pfennig coin too closely. The SS made the designers change the appearance resulting in the type 2 design. Occasionally examples are found struck in other metals such as copper or silver. There were a few actual trial pieces struck, but most are fake pieces struck after the war. There should be a diamond between the words Der and Litzmannstadt to be a genuine token.
