Koetatjane
Koetatjane Internment Camp was located near the southern tip of Sumatra.
It was first operated from 1940-1941 by the Netherlands as an internment camp. After the Dutch East Indies was captured by the Japanese it became a POW camp. The text on the notes is in Dutch and translates as Department of War Camp Money-for use of prisoners within the internee camp. Denominations of 1 cent were previously seen and 2 1/2, 5, and 10 cents were listed. Just recently a set of the above plus 35 cents, 1 florin, and 2.50 florin have been found. These may be the only ones found and thus are extremely rare.
