German General Series of POW Scrip
A general series of German POW scrip was produced for use in all of it’s camps.
The scrip circulated from 1939 until 1944 when it was withdrawn from circulation. Eight denominations were issued, 1, 10, and 50 Reichspfennig, and 1, 2, 5, and 10 Reichsmark. A 20 Reichsmark note was produced but only exists as a specimen. The notes are characterized by a red triangle which is the symbol for prisoner. The notes are uniface. Occasionally notes will be found with an overstamp of the camp they were used in.
