Canada POW Camp R
Canadian POW camp R was located in Red Rock, Ontario.
In 1940 48 abandoned bunk houses previously used by workers of the Lake Sulphite Pulp & Paper Co. was surrounded by barbed wire and became a POW camp. The camp held 1145 Germans not all of whom were POWs, some were military, there were merchant seamen, and some German Jews who were refugees that had fled Nazi Germany. The site closed in October 1941 when all of the prisoners were move to other locations. The POW chit illustrated is the only one I have ever seen. There are no references that list chits from this camp
