American-Jewish Joint Distribution Committee
The American-Joint Distribution Committee was set up just prior to World War I to help Jews in war torn areas of Eastern Europe as well as reclamation projects in Palestine.
Just after World War II The Joint as it is refereed to helped set up and run displaced persons camps in Austria for the 75,000 displaced Jews in Germany and Austria. Little is known about the notes issued for use in the camps. They were apparently issued as part of a works program and are denominated in units. The known denominations are 1, 5, and 10 units. The notes are extremely rare. I have only seen the 3 illustrated.
