Bon De Solidarite Issues
These notes were issued by Vichy France for French POWs interned in other countries. They were not used by the POWs but were rather a receipt for a donation to the Solidarity Campaign.
The donations were to be used to provide food and toiletry items for the POWs. Many of the notes show such things as POWs being served food and given razors. Denominations of 1/2, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, and 5000 francs were issued and display the portrait of Marshal Petain. In addition larger Certificates of Solidarity were issued. The lower denominations are fairly common, but the higher ones are scarce.
