Central Internment Camp
Central Internment Camp was located in Dehra Dun/ Premnagar a complex located in Northern India 125 miles Northeast of Delhi.
It was a mixed civilian internment camp holding 2000 German civilians and 10,000 Italian POWs. housed in separate camps. The camp opened in 1941 and closed in 1946. There are 3 types of notes. Type one is like the typical India POW notes with a 6 mm bar. Type 2 are without the bar and type 3 has Internees Private Funds Account-Central Internment Camp on the top 2 lines of the note. Some notes have no wing designation and some have wing 1 and wing 6. Wings 1 and 6 held German internees.
