Featherston

The Featherston POW Camp was located about 125 miles from Wellington New Zealand. The camp housed Japanese POWs mostly captured at Guadalcanal.

The camp was the site of a prison riot in which 13 POWs and 1 guard was killed. The tokens are made of steel and are unifaced and rusted easily. Denominations of 1/2, and 1 penny, 3, and 6 pence, and 1 and 2 shillings. All of the Featherston tokens are extremely rare.
